Library media faculty position in Wisconsin

The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater's library media program is
expanding and looking for a new faculty member with a focus on school
librarianship.  In addition to preparing school library media
specialists in an on-campus program, UW-W is part of a distance
education collaboration of five University of Wisconsin campuses that
licenses school library media specialists in areas of the region with no
easy access to programs.  We need an energetic, fun-loving, flexible,
innovative person to help us continue to build the program.  If you are

Position Description:  Library Media Faculty

The Department of Educational Foundations at the University of
Wisconsin-Whitewater is recruiting for a full-time Assistant or
Associate Professor tenure-track position, beginning August 26, 2002 to
teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the school library media
program.  This position is in an expanding and innovative program that
integrates school library media and technology.  The applicant will have
an opportunity to develop new courses with the possibility of teaching
in a distance format.  UW-Whitewater faculty are expected to demonstrate
commitment to teaching, scholarship, and service.

QUALIFICATIONS:
An MLS and an earned doctorate in a relevant field.  Three years of
licensed school library experience and skill with information and
instructional technologies required.

Founded in 1868, UW-Whitewater is the public comprehensive university
with an enrollment of 10,600 student in 42 undergraduate majors and 16
graduate degree programs.  Located in southeastern Wisconsin, with easy
access to Madison, Milwaukee, and Chicago, UW-Whitewater is the fourth
largest campus in the 26-campus University of Wisconsin System.  The
UW-Whitewater campus is a regional center for cultural and athletic
activities.

The College of Education is one of four colleges at UW-Whitewater.  The
College faculty numbers 100 and serves 2200 undergraduate and 450
graduate students. The College support integrated technology in all
courses, international study opportunities for interested students and
faculty, a Diversity Study Group on equity and multiculturalism, a
faculty mentoring program, and several new initiatives in curriculum.
Since 1963, the College has held NCTE accreditation.  The College is
also a member of the Renaissance Group
