Good afternoon, This announcement is being sent to a number of lists. Please accept our apologies for any duplicate postings. Washington, DC is the site for the American Library Association Mid-Winter conference from January 12-17. Though most of the conference will focus on committee meetings (including the ones to select the Newbery and Caldecott award winners), the conference will have an extensive exhibition area including information on the newest technology, the latest publications and other new products and services from a variety of vendors. There is a small fee to access the ALA exhibits. For further information visit the ALA website at <http://www.ala.org/events/mw2001/> The Library of Congress will have a booth in the exhibit hall and will provide a series of demonstrations highlighting library services and activities. Included will be demonstrations of American Memory and the revamped Learning Page, the Collaborative Digital Reference Service, the services provided by the Cataloging Distribution Service including a demonstration of the Cataloger's Desktop, and presentations on the issues involved in the development of the Library's digital library presence and the digitizing projects taking place in the Library. A complete list of all in-booth presentations is listed below. We hope that you will come and visit at booth 1628 and learn more about our services and how we can help you. Please direct any questions to Linda White, LC Booth Coordinator, at lwhi@loc.gov. Thank you.
