Dear LM_NET Folks,

One of the aides in my building asked if I knew the title of this book. =
It was one of her mother's favorite read-alouds when the aide was a =
little girl (the early 80's I believe.) The book was about a mean, =
miserly mother who made her children do all of the housework in the =
home. The children had to always wear their good clothes and were never =
allowed to play with other children. When the mean old woman died she =
was buried standing up (I think because she was too cheap to pay for a =
full-size grave.)

Does this ring a bell? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
