Most of my computers aren't connected to the internet. There are 2 ways I can update the virus definitions. First, I can copy the new dat. files on a floppy disk and carry it around to each one to install it. Or I can copy the dat. files to a temp folder in my public directory on the server, and when I go to each computer, do the update from there. It doesn't matter much, either way, in terms of time. I do have the anti-virus program, as well as the security program, on each computer, rather than having them use files on the server. It takes a bit longer to update, but I have the peace of mind of knowing that if the server is down or for some reason the workstation isn't connected to it, the security and antivirus programs will still run fine.
