TECH: MAC G3 PowerBook Adapter Recalls

I just wanted to share this information with any of you who are using a MAC
G3 PowerBook or might have some of these laptops in your school/library.  Apple has 
voluntarily initiated an exchange program to replace the AC adaptors.  These 
adaptors could overheat and pose a potential fire hazard.
This recall only affects those PowerBook G3 systems that were shipped between 5-98 
and 3-00.

I have six of these laptops as part of my laptop borrowing program for my high 
school students.  From my own personal use and the use of these laptops by my 
students, the adaptors did seem to get hot.  Now I'm glad that Apple has recognized 
that there definitely is a potential fire hazard and has instituted a free exchange 
program.
