I can't speak for everyone, but I can tell you why so many Texas teachers
are now posting on LM_Net! Our state has adopted new certification standards
for school librarians. There is a "rush" to get your certificate if you have
wanted it in the past, because beginning June 2002, a master's degree will
be required for certification. If the 18 hours of certification requirements
are completed before June '02, you will be grandfathered in under the "old"
certification program. The reason so many classroom teachers are posting, is
that to be a school librarian in Texas, you have to have a teaching
certificate and experience in the classroom.
