We have a copier which has a vending unit. We charge a dime per page. We
don't charge for copies from books or magazines that cannot be taken from the
library. We also don't charge teachers when they just need a couple of
copies. (We have a couple of other copiers for teacher use also. We even
have a full time "copy lady" who makes the mass quatnitites) We could never
afford the copy machine service contract or paper, toner etc if we didn't
charge for copies. We do not have a Kinko's or any other copy store in town
so our students use our copier for everthing from posters for their garage
band concerts to copies of notes when they've been absent. We really don't
have any problems with this and I'm quite surprised to hear that this is a
foreign concept. Am I alone out here?
