I've read that a number of elementary librarians have their kids use shelf markers so they know where to put the book back. My kids have shelf marker cards during their class library book exchange time - a 4x6 card with their name and room number on it. I'm trying to figure out how to introduce markers for class library skills exercises, and for kids who come in at other times. If you use markers, particularly the paint stick kind, can you tell me 1 - Where do you keep them? Are they in one place in the library or in several places by the different library sections? 2 - How do you keep kids from using paint sticks for things other than shelf marking (such as fencing, whacking a classmate)?? I'll post a hit if people request it. Thank you!! Johanna --------------------- Johanna Halbeisen, Teacher Librarian Woodland Elementary School (preK-4) 80 Powder Mill Rd.
