TECH: Need a workhorse (no color) laser for overdues

What is your recommendation for a PC laser printer, the basic of
basics so we can have something reliable for printing overdue notices
and overdue letters?  I've had it with struggling with the tractor
feed paper and the noise of the dot-matrix printer.  Please don't
recommend an inkjet.  The ink cartridges are prohibitive.
