Laura, Cheer-up it could be worse. In the city where I used to work, a K-8 school of the kind and era you describe was built in what was a high crime district. The library was indeed the "hub of the school." The library is without walls in the middle of the great hall. Every time there is a class change or a kid goes to the bathroom there is traffic through the library. Kids not only steal, destroy or "re-arrange" books, they crawl into empty cupboard and shelves to hide. The LMS, with no aide, has a fixed schedule of SFA Reading and K-3 library classes that leave him four "prep" periods a week to be a librarian for the rest of the school. And the system wonders why they can't keep a LMS there. Dorothy At 08:06 PM 10/23/2001 -0400, Laura Strickland wrote: >Tell me about it!
