Once upon a time, computer keyboards and CPUs were attached to TVs. There weren't special monitors for some. We had an old TI99 that we hooked up to our TV. OK, I know I am getting old... I don't know how expensive the TV card is to purchase but I know that the bulbs are expensive. And you have to look at the long run, sometimes. We have LCD projectors hooked up to computers, TVs and to VCRs. Be sure to check on that bulb life-our principal was told his new projectors, and he bought three, had a bulb life of 1500 hours. At 1094 hours one died...there is no guarantee and the new one costs 500 dollars!!! We were told the manufacture has a 90-day warrantee - nothing else. At least with the TV card, you can bypass the projector and use the computer and TV set up for a lot less projection time. Buyer beware.
