Here's another that I am sure many of you have heard. A student walks in to
the library with money or a receipt book and hand it to me. When I ask him
what it is for, he said his teacher told him to give it to the bookkeeper!
(Apparently, middle schoolers think bookkeeper means the "keeper of the
books" in the library!)
