Hi!=20 Thanks to everyone who responded to my request for good classroom=20 read-alouds for third graders. Several asked for a hit--I've included here=20 only those who responded to me rather than to the whole listserv.=20 Here are some great read-alouds for 3rd graders: The Mouse and the Motorcycle, Runaway Ralph, and Ralph S. Mouse by Beverly=20 Cleary I was a Third Grade Science Project by Auch (sp?) Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing and Superfudge by Judy Blume Where the Red Fern Grows Shiloh by Naylor James and the Giant Peach by Roald Dahl Charlotte=E2=80=99s Web and Stuart Little by E. B. White The Best School Year Ever (Robinson). Perfect for the grade where the kids=20 are beginning to start being =E2=80=9Ccliquey=E2=80=9D. I read Nose-Pickers from Outer Space by Korman to a tough group of antsy kid= s=20 and they loved it! Some favorites: Sweet Dream Pie by Audrey Wood All the Anansi stories by Eric Kimmel A Bad Case of Stripes by David Shannon No, David and David Goes to School by David Shannon Harvey Potter=E2=80=99s Balloon Farm by Nolen (?) Strega Nona books by Tomie dePaola Arthur series by Marc Brown Talking Eggs by Sans Souci Because of Winn-Dixie by Kate DiCamillo Bud, not Buddy by Christopher Paul Curtis Hey, New Kid! by Betsy Duffey (funny book about a new student who makes up=20 stories about his life only to be found out at the book=E2=80=99s conclusion= ) Earthquake Terror by Peg Kehret (edge-of-your-seat thriller about a boy and=20 his disabled sister stranded on an island when an earthquake strikes) Ramona=E2=80=99s World by Beverly Cleary funny book about a just-entering fo= urth=20 grade girl and her adventures.
