Hello! I would like to have my Grade 3-5 students participate in the voting to select the next NYS Charlotte Award book. This amounts to 580 students. I thought I'd read the primary books to all of my third grade classes and we'd talk about them and rate them and choose a winner. For my 4th and 5th graders I'd really like to have a club that meets periodically, but I don't think that will be feasible. My other thought was to call it a club, but have the students talk about their books during their library class. This way, their classmates who choose not to participate will still be exposed to the books. The reading specialist at my school likes the idea and may even have soem money for the mutliple copies of books that we'll need. I'd like some advice from those of you who may have done soemthing like this before. What suggestions do you have? I really want to this well, but I am worried about the huge number of kids I have and how I'll accommodate them if I have a LOT of interest. Thanks in advance!
