Re: Teen Read Week Activities

Here is a brief outline of what we will be doing in my middle school.
Information about the activities will be going home in our October parent
newsletter. Students who participate in 9/13 activities are eligible for
prizes. Each homeroom teacher will get a packet of materials and a record
sheet to check off  the activities. I will be putting posters up all over
the school and promoting the activities on our morning TV show. I am looking
forward to hearing what others are doing for Teen Read Week.

Daily Activities

Monday

Hats Off to Reading! (wear a hat)
D.E.A.R. (Drop Everything and Read) special schedule
Parent Awareness form signed (in newsletter)

Tuesday

Collegiate Day (wear something collegiate)

Wednesday

Harry Potter Day
Beardsley Book Banter
(cookies and pop and book talk after school in LMC)

Thursday

Read-a-Tee Day
(wear a t-shirt with lots of words on it)

Library Survivor
(public library program for teen read week)

Friday

Paperback Book Exchange
(during lunch periods)

Week-Long Activities

Design a reading poster for your favorite teen book.
Draw a hobbit or other fantasy creature.
"Make Reading a Hobbit"
(Read at home at least 15 minutes a day - form in newsletter)
