Hi Fellow Netters,
(I sure am having a rough time getting my first notice sent out to everyone.
  It's a good thing I have a persistant character.)

First, I want to thank all of you who continue to share information and
ideas. It is thrilling to belong to such a wonderful group of people
worldwide. It is amazing how many of us share the same needs personally and
for the communities we serve.

Thanks to those of you who have been contributing to the "themes" thread, we
have also decided to do the "Read Around the World in 180 Days" theme
schoolwide this year. I started collecting resources a few weeks ago and
since announcing it to the faculty, several teaches have brought info and
ideas to me to add to the resource file in the media center. Hope that's a
sign of what's to come.

I am posting a request to you for postcards from countries around the world.
We're starting with Australia. Should I make a post each month with a
specific region/country - or just general? Please advise what would be best
for all of you.
Our plan is to feature our school mascot reading the postcards from our
feature country a few times each week over closed circuit tv/ morning
announcements. Kind of like "Where in the World is Carmen Santiago." Then
we will elaborate a bit on facts about the country, city, historical site -
whatever is pictured on the postcard.

Thanks to everyone in advance since I know I can count on this great team.
Please address postcards to:
