My husband, an amateur astronomer, suggested the following: Edmund Scientific sells a lot of different kinds of lenses. Try the web site at http://www.anchoroptical.com/. The 1000 mm f.l. lens may be = hard to come by. I would recommend achromatic lenses (doublets), at least for = the eyepiece. As an alternative, a place like Lens Crafters could make a 50 = mm diameter 1000 mm f.l. lens, but it would not be a great choice in a 20 = power telescope. For kits, try http://www.scientificsonline.com/. I saw one kit there = for $15, but it was a 3 power el cheapo cardboard toy. A Google search for telescope kits ought to dredge up a few vendors.
