Dear all: Thanks to all who sent suggestions about small library cataloging systems! (Are we a great group or what?!) Several people asked for a HIT, so here it is. A total of four different programs were mentioned, with several people mentioned the same programs, so to save room in your mailbox I have only listed one message for each program mentioned. Again, thanks! Mark ------------- Try Athena by Sagebrush Corp. We use it for our small library. T. Hudak ---- You might check out a site at www.librarycom.com. I believe this is a location that has a free service, MARC compatable, for up to 5,000 entries. This is on the company's server. More space, with additional capabilities, can be used for a yearly fee. ------- I use a free program called Athenaeum Light. it is made for both Mac and PC. They alos have two other versions with more features for PC : Express and Pro. You may want to download the free version top see if it is what you are looking for and test it. http://www.sumware.co.nz/ is their website. ----- There is a free system called LexiFile that you may want to look at. It does cataloging and circulation, and many other functions. It is fairly easy to use and it can be downloaded off the internet for free. You can do MARC input, etc. You can check it out at http://www.lex.sk.ca I have used this software now on two libraries and find it to be very easy to use.
