A kangaroo and koala fair - now there's an idea ........
But I am actually doing a bring-and-buy sale instead of Book Fair. We only
have Scholastic here and although they meet our needs (with a prompt now and
then) we are having a break just to keep the concept a bit fresher. Sales
were well down at the last one and I think it is because the novelty has
worn off.
So I have asked the kids to tidy up their rooms (Brownie points from
parents) and bring in all those books they don't want for the sale. I have
told them that the book needs to be in a condition that they would be quite
happy about parting with their pocket money for and they are pretty good.
Each book brought in gets a 10c discount ticket.
Then we will set the donations out and kids can come and browse and buy, and
use their tickets, if they have them, against the price of something they
wish to purchase. Most titles will be in the $1 - $2 range - not so much a
fund-raiser but more of a promotion but we shall see how it goes!
