I was speaking to my Scholastic rep. just yesterday. Among other things, I
asked her about Read Street. Apparently, Read Street has ALWAYS been a
subsidiary of Scholastic. It's not one of those companies, like Troll or
Pages, that Scholastic has bought out, but it is owned by Scholastic.

I would also be interested in Scholastic alternatives, particularly any
companies who handle material of a religious, especially Catholic, nature.

Also, what are the viable alternatives for those of us who are hours away
from any large chain book stores? Do any of you other more rural librarians
have any ideas?
