Target: Laptops in elementary school

Our school is seeking information, both positive and negative,  from
elementary schools presently using PC, not iMac, laptops in their
classrooms. I've checked the archives and gathered some information, mostly
about  middle and high schools. But we really need info for K-5
environments.  Our parent community wants to purchase a portable laptop
cart, since we do not have a computer lab and probably won't see one within
the next 2 years. We presently have Dreamwriters, which have been an
expensive nightmare to say the least, and will likely replace those with
Alphasmarts for keyboarding and word processing. In order to meet our
district's standard and benchmarks we really need the abilities of a
computer and laptops have been proposed. Any help and feedback would be
gratefully accepted. TIA
