Hi Everyone,
Thanks for the help with locating info on LCD projectors. Here is what I
found and several responses for info.

*******

We have purchased the SHARP PG-M10S. They are small, light weight, great
for classroom or large area. The cost was about $2500. They might have
even gone down in price since then. Our vendor was Central
AudioVisual/MCSI, 1-800-261-6589.
I have purchased Eiki's and Boxlight's. They both have been very good. No
service, etc.

Right now I have a brochure for a Boxlight CD-555m for $3,595.
You should be able to call and get a more reasonable price.
800-689-6676 or www.boxlight.com/education

Do not get less than 1000 lumens because you will have to turn off some
lights if you do. Depending on the usage, you have a choice of XGA or SVGA.
If it is not for things like CAD or intricate electrical things, SVGA is
probably o.k. I always negotiate for free case, etc.

Eiki projectors - I have the little notebook. It is very small. They only
problem I have with it is the sound isn't very load so I hook computer
speakers in to it for classroom use and large groups. Wespen in PA handles
the Eiki and usually has a pretty good price
http://www.wespen.com 800-433-6596. I ordered mine from Bartha Visuals in
Columbus, Ohio, because that is convenient. They are excellent for service
800-363-2698. I talk to Eric Fritz or his dad
George (?).

I just got a flyer from Curtis with lots of projectors 800-228-5937.

Phillips had an educational special for SVGA 1000 lumens $2,360.
I never ordered from the company that sent the flyer 800-555-4566 so don't
know much about that.

Just stay above 1000 lumens, check out what plugs the projector has - with
DVD, etc, you want to have that available. Look at lamp hours - some are
1000, some 2000, etc. The lamps cost about $400 each. I have only had to
replace one in three years so some of mine will probably be going soon. Of
course weight and size can be a factor if you are transporting it lots.
Regarding LCD projectors keep in mind a couple of things, in my opinion...

How bright do you need it to be? This is listed as the lumens factor.
How clear do you need the display to be? The is the resolution VGA,
SVGA,XGA, etc.
What type of inputs do you need the LCD to take? Computer? S-Video (DVD)?
RCA (VCR)?
What type of outputs do you need it to have? A VGA Out? An Audio out?

We've had good luck with Sharp and Epson LCD's, though we've just purchased
some Eiki LCD's that seem to be working ok as well.
I have asked our Purchasing Director about any help he might provide and he
said he would check pricing for you to give you some idea of what we charge.
He suggested 2 brands 1 being Eiki http://www.eiki.com/frames/frames.htm and
the other being Infocus http://www.infocus.com/home/amer/eng/flash.asp
I am a little familiar with both and they are very reliable and offer high
quality projection. Realize what our AV division looks for and what you
might need for educational purposes would be the same, a strong combination
of durability, quality, flexibility, and ease of use.
Take a look at NEC's brand of projects. They are quite powerful in lumens.
However they are kind of expensive. Used one with drapes open and WOW!
Check out their website at http://www.nectech.com They have educational
pricing . Look for a link for education reps or pricing.
