Trivia Help

Hi,
   I hope everyone is having a great summer. I am enjoying reading all the
posts to LMNET.  I  am looking for the answers to two trivia questions.  If
anyone can help me with the answers, I would greatly appreciate the help. The
questions are :

What British novelist was born in Iran in 1919 and brought up on a farm in








                                                     Zimbabwe?

What painter born in Russia in 1887 spent most of his life in France, drawing
subject matter from Jewish life and folklore?

I have been unsuccessful in my search for the answers. For some reason this
is driving me crazy.
