Actually this book (Yar of the Perfect Christmas Tree) was written by
Gloria Houston, with Barbara Cooney illustrations. It is one of the
most beautiful Christmas stories. I read it to my kindergartners every
year and never fail to get choked up. They have some understanding of
parents away at war since we live in close proximity to an army base.
