ELEM: Twist on Fixed/Collaboration/Flex and Request

We have new administration this year and I have been trying to educate them
on the value of collaboration and flex schedule. Unfortunately I am 'prep'
time for classroom teachers (K-4, 25 classes) and at this point can't get
out of that. HOWEVER, my principal distributed next year's specialist
schedule today and it has a start on Flex/Collaborative time in the library.
I still have the fixed/plan time library time, but the classroom teachers
have been put on an A/B schedule with an assigned time (every-other week)
for collaborative activities. It has been made clear that this is time for
THEM to come to ME to work out collaborative activities. I will be creating
a form for them to complete and get to me (in person) A WEEK before their
'bonus' library time. I am going to have to be hard-nosed (and my principal
agrees with me) that a teacher can't call or email me at 8 am saying they
are coming in for their 10 am bonus time!

Since I am also the techy person in the building, the principal has also
blocked out those bonus times in the computer lab, so if the classroom
teacher wants me to teach or assist the class in the computer lab then we
will have the time available there, also.

If you have a form that you currently use for planning collaborative
activities, I would appreciate it if you could email it to me (or fax or
snail-mail!)

Stay tuned for how this works. When I met with them before the distribution
I told them that I would come back to them if it wasn't working!
