Listed in AR Bookguide as UG (Upper Grades meaning high school)

The Bomb by Theodore Taylor
Color Purple
Payback

Listed in AR Bookguide as MG (Middle Grades meaning middle/junior school)

Cat who....series
Outsiders
Nightjohn

I would add True Believer to the UG list.

Reading level alone can not be used to select books. Most general pleasure
books for adults will have UG or MG interest levels and reading levels
anywhere from high 4th -6 grade reading levels. It is up to us to pay
attention to the interest level. If you don't have AR BookGuide or want to
search titles that are too new to appear in BookGuide, go to
http://www.renlearn.com/ and click on order quizzes. The interest level
appears next to the reading level.
