There has been a lot a great information about weeding, but it mostly = addresses non-fiction. What about fiction? Some books never grow old. So how do you weed fiction? I'm a new media specialist in a K-5 school. = Half of our collection is Easy Fiction. I don't know when it was last = weeded. Some of these books are old, bought in the 50's, 60's, & more = commonly the 70's & 80's. Many of the bindings have been mended with = opaque colored tape, so there is no title visible on the spine. The = cardboard in the covers is often swollen from use. Some of the covers = are the old solid buckram. Yet they are surpisingly in good shape on the inside. Few torn pages, = few loose bindings. This is not to say some of the art is dated. My = guess is they are so physically unappealing that many have not been = checked out in years. But certainly we have gotten our money's worth! = I have Athena 8.1, & can't figure out how to check circulation by book. = I can run a massive report on the computer but it takes a long time. What guidlelines are there for weeding easy fiction?
