How College Students Think: An Update

Before all of the wonderful library assistants read my rebuttal to Mr. =
Barari regarding how college students feel about librarians and think =
that I am referring to YOU as having a D minus in any of coursework =
which then led you to become a "library assistant", please understand =
that I have not nor will I ever think of library assistants as such in =
"real life".

In fact, most of my library assistants at OSU (Oklahoma State =
University) were outstanding, honor roll students who have gone on to =
make wonderful careers for themselves (some even in library science).  =
And this, I feel, was primarily because they had a deeper understanding =
of resources available to help them achieve success in their classwork, =
they had a strong value of libraries, and they understood the commitment =
to work ethics (found by working the third shift in the library during =
"dead week").

My rebuttal was directly related to Sony Barari AND not to those of you =
who are committed to libraries and DO help those of us with that "ALA =
accredited MLIS degree" work with students and teachers.  YOU make the =
difference in what we are able to do.  Never feel that a librarian =
thinks less of what you do--without library assistants I could never =
function to my full potential. =20

IF anyone was offended by my rebuttal, I apologize.  But as I said, I =
wanted to step on his toes as a poor student who would probably never =
graduate with THAT attitude of libraries.  You would never be thought of =
in this manner.
