Dear List,
Many thanks to the LM_NET moderators for giving me permission to post
this question. We at PBS are researching the feasibility of integrating
digital television (DTV) into classroom instruction. Since I know that
many of you have as much knowledge of the school's technology as anyone
else in the building, I would like to pose a question to you that would
help us immeasurably with our research. Please reply directly to me at
clowe@pbs.org.
I am wondering how many schools/districts are installing a media server
on a school network (for digital delivery of audio, video, and other
media assets). Would you choose a media server that came prepackaged
with media (like KnowledgeBox, Encarta, etc.) or prefer a more generic
solution, supported by your tech coordinator, that could incorporate
content from multiple sources? What technical requirements are
especially important?
