I want to thank everyone who gave suggestions on how to access the full
Athena program on a student workstation. Unfortunately, going to the
shortcut properties or wma.exe did not work because our network drive is
password protected and I couldn't get into it. I am able to access the
network on my laptop since it belongs to the school board so I loaded the
Athena program on it and set the workstation for full access. When I
connected the laptop to the network, logged in with the same login that I
use for circulation (I have multiple accesses on my login), and clicked on
the Athena icon, I was able to access everything including circulation and
cataloging.
I connected the barcode scanner to the keyboard/mouse port on the laptop
using the Y-connector. I have a 25-foot barcode cable and have asked our
computer tech support personnel for a long network cable so I should be set.
I started inventory and everything that I scan on the laptop shows up on the
circulation computer. This is so much easier than using a stand-alone and
saving and restoring over and over.
I still have a scanner on the circulation computer so we can continue
checking books in while inventory is going on.
