Hi everyone: I have been hired as a grades 7-12 SLMS, starting this fall. The school is small and rural, approximately 375 kids in these grades. I am just short of completing the MLS (30 credit hours done, including core curriculum, school media courses, and education courses) I have not had fieldwork or practicum yet. I do not come from a teaching background. I have had some mentorship and shadowing experiences, and have SLMS friends who tutor/mentor me. I'm looking for those of you started under these particular circumstances to share with me what you remember about starting the job without prior experience. What was the first day like? First week? First month? And so on. I am fortunate in that the school has assigned two library-friendly teachers to be mentors for me this fall. But before going in, I'd like to hear some stories from the real world. I have a notebook made up of all the "newbie" information ever posted at LM_NET and it is invaluable. I look forward to adding to it any information I receive in response to this request. Thank you!
