Sec: Passes Only from Teachers to the IMC

Hi,

This fall we are changing procedures in the IMC. We are going to a pass
system with passes issued only from teachers and not the study hall. All
teachers must sign their name in the student handbook that all students
will carry and indicate the unit the students will be researching. They
may also send students to the IMC to read or any other educational
activity. In addition to students coming with a pass from a teacher, we
will have tutors, students taking online courses, and small groups
coming from classes with the same type of pass. We also have computer
stations for two classes on computers, so we must require that all
students have an academic assignment. Does anyone else use this pass
system now and how is it working for you? We want the IMC to be an
academic center and not a study hall or a social area.
