When I was at an elementary school, I went to several carpet stores and asked if they would donate some carpet squares...many gave me 10 or more. I kept them in a pile and the kids willingly got their "magic carpets" for story time...because every book is an adventure and can take us to other places (that is how I introduced them to the kids). I had a huge map on the wall as they'd walk in they would look at where our book was taking us today...I had an X you are here and a * on the locale of the book. It also kept kids from kicking each other because they sat crossed legged on the carpet squares. lm Lynette (LYNN) Mitchell Technology/Media Specialist mitchelll@citrus.k12.fl.us Pampered Chef Consultant cheflynn@tampabay.rr.com -----Original Message----- From: Madden To: LM_NET@LISTSERV.SYR.EDU Sent: 8/30/03 4:48 PM Subject: Target:Storytime pillows/ seating Hi all- I am writing to ask for your advice about story pillows or some type of seating for storytime. Last year, I was not allowed to purchase a rug (the school is concerned about bugs) so the students had to sit on the floor. It was terrible and after a while in some classes they would refuse and drag their chairs over. What I am looking for is something inviting that lasts and does not take up too much space and of course the cost should not be too astronomical! I've seen the story mats in Highsmith and I was wondering if any one has used these and how durable are they? Thanks so much for your help in advance.
