TARGET: Library security system

Does anyone have radio frequency security systems who is willing to
share advantages/disadvantages?

We currently have an electromagnetic security system (3M) in our high
school library, but it is very outdated.  Our senior class is donating
money to help us update our system.  I'm interested in the radio
frequency systems, but need references. The RF systems seem to be much
more economical, but I don't know that they work as well as what we
have.
