I am looking for short stories about people's lives that will help me = introduce biographies to 5th and 6th graders. I want to design the = lesson like Paul Harvey's ...And That's the Rest of the Story. I would = like them to be stories that might not be known about these famous = people that really have a punch or kick to the ending. I know many = times when I've heard these type stories on the radio, I get chills or = am just appalled at how they end. I want the kids to feel the same way = and make them really want to dig in and find info about people's lives = in biographies. I know that Bill Cosby has an interesting life story. = I'm just looking for others similar to this where possibly a child has = lived in poverty or has had to overcome adversity to become a successful = person in life. With the many challenges our young kids face today, I = would like to be able to instill in them that there is hope no matter = what. Thanks in advance for any help.
