SCHOOL LIBRARIAN AS KNOWLEDGE BROKER
This course is a discussion seminar for experienced school media
specialists looking to explore the impact of the changing information
environment on traditional roles and responsibilities. During the semester
we will examine communication dynamics in school cultures, management
strategies for the 21st century media center, the school librarian as
staff developer, and current trends in education reform. Coursework will
involve extensive readings and intensive asynchronous conversations with
colleagues outside the constraints of the daily workplace. This course is
an opportunity to learn and grow in a collegial atmosphere; the readings
and discussion participation are the most significant class
work. Prerequisite: a minimum of two years of experience as a school media
specialist.
Course runs online from January 27th through the end of April. 3 graduate
credits from Rutgers University.
