>And can we also get a remote control to turn down the volume on the

I laughed like crazy when I read the first of these messages. I have caught
myself many times with the key to the library in hand as I approached my car
and the car key/clicker in hand to open the library door!
This one reminded me, though, of a technique I have used with my kids, and I
thought it was worth sharing. In the day and age of the remote, kids see a
number on the screen when turning volume up and down, and understand the
meaning of the word mute as relates to TV and the remote. So, sometimes, I
tell the kids that if I had a remote for their noise level, I would want the
noise level on 5 or 2 or whatever. When their noise level rises, I tell
them "your voices are at about a 20 now, we need to turn it down to 5 or we
will have to put it on mute." It is not a technique I use every day, but it
catches their imagination in a positive way some days.
