As a former teacher of children with disabilities, I think the entire "Blair
Project" is a disgrace to those students who are disabled and yet,
understand the concept of "citing your sources." I taught blind students how
to locate information online, find the source document information, and cite
the information in research papers. It was one of the hardest projects I've
ever worked on...but most of my students (even the Valedictorian) are now
attending local state universities--or have graduated and are working (one
is a journalist in Kansas) and are they excited about the chance to live
their lives as their sighted peers. These kids struggled and were able to
do the right thing...without a Harvard ticket!

This student's behavior shows how spoiled and irresponsible she and her
parents are when it comes to education and "playing well with others."

After reading the plagiarism article, I did a search on Blair Hornstine and
found these references:

http://www.tow.com/photogallery/20030607_blair/

http://www.weeklystandard.com/Content/Public/Articles/000/000/002/852lodkv.asp

http://www.dailypennsylvanian.com/vnews/display.v/ART/2003/07/17/3f164c649712a

http://www.philly.com/mld/inquirer/5774517.htm

In them, there are examples of her plagiarism from articles she wrote. Of
course, many of these are editorials with examples but obviously there are
some games being played for so many to be upset with this young lady....now
I'm upset too!

I'll keep this information as a reference for my students when I teach about
plagiarism. Although I teach (harp, preach, dictate) about plagiarism in all
my research classes, I've got too many students considering the Ivy League
colleges to NOT make a strong statement to them about what might happen if
they choose the wrong path to research....

Thanks for the "Monday morning heart-starter"...now my blood pressure will
be up all day! *g*
