Congratulations all the brave librarians who attended
ALA/CLA conference in Toronto. I kept seeing the
phrase "brave librarian" all over the exhibit hall.
It felt good to be recognized for my bravery when
I thought it was simply my being INFORMED about
the low-risk of Sars.
Since many people did not choose to attend, it meant
lots of free books for the attendees. Plus it was not
overly crowded so I spent sometimes 20 minutes speaking
with excellent authors and illustrators during their
signing periods. For those publishers who DID show up,
I have additional respect.
The people of Toronto were wonderful,
the weather was glorious,
and a session by South Carolina and California on how to
legislate locally was very informative.
I wish everyone could have been there.
I spent the weekend wondering again why we don't have
an LM_NET conference ribbon. I will be at Midwinter
and next year's annual and I'd love to see how many
people are members of LM_NET. How can we arrange this?
Diane
