LMNet Conference

For several years Texas LMNet users had a breakfast at the annual library
conference.  I participated and loved the chance to put a face with a name.
The first time I went it was a small curtained area with muffins and
coffee...it grew and grew to a large breakfast with scrumptious food and a
large number of people.  A vendor paid for the breakfast, it was free to
participants.  Peter came one year.  We usually had a small presentation,
some door prizes and lots of talking.
      I think the idea of including it in another conference is excellent.
I don't think I could fund a separate conference, especially if it includes
large travel expenses.
The Texas conference costs over $100 to participate, as does ALA.  This does
not include travel and lodging.
I have to fund all this myself, the district does not pay my fees.
       A separate conference would often duplicate what is presented for
school librarians at annual conferences.
Has thought been given to how to fund a conference?  It is very expensive to
rent convention centers.   As I understand it, just to reserve the meeting
place requires a large deposit.
      I think our best plan would be to be included in ALA, AASL or a state
convention.
