Many people asked me to send pictures or post them on my web page. Here =
are pictures taken from my desk. They show the library starting on my =
right and working my way to the left side of the library. The design =
feature I mentioned in my fist posting was the graduated book stacks. Not =
all of the stacks are like this - but most of them are. The bookcases =
closest to the wall are 6 shelves high, the next one out from the wall is =
5 shelves high and the one furthest from the wall is 4 shelves high. It =
really avoids "blind spots".
My other favorite design feature is the custom made computer desks which =
are built in a zig-zag. The design allows 15 computers in a very small =
space without the students being shoulder to shoulder and all the screen =
visible from the circulation desk.
Hope you enjoy the pictures. Those of you who are planning - I hope you =
enjoy the process. We did not get many things that we would have liked - =
but we are VERY happy in our new home. The kids LOVE it and that is the =
most important part. Our popularity as a hot destination has gone up by =
leaps and bounds. A new library is a great opportunity to change the mind =
set of the school, wipe the slate clean, and start over brand new!
