Because some teachers are still requiring these to be read...however, the
teacher is NOT discussing the book in class. They just want "justification"
and "evidence" that the book has been read and that a test has been taken.

We have tests on WAR AND PEACE, IVANHOE, GREAT EXPECTATIONS, (ad
nauseum)...my kids pick up the book, check the points, check it out and
bring it back two days later...no test....

By the way...this was our last year for AR! We spoke to our administrators
about why the program wasn't working, they agreed with our findings and
allowed us to present it to the teachers. We told our teachers and they
agreed. They are looking forward to the new program we will present to them
in August! (No tests, no labels, no computers, no color coded dots, no
points, no reading levels....YEAH!!!)
