I have to 2nd the recommendation on reading anything by Harlan Coben. He
had a wonderful series for several years with Myron Bolitar as the main
character. His last three books have been stand alones. His current one is
called Second Chances and he does a wonderful job of writing twists and
turns into his books.
I would also recommend Robert Crais -- another mystery series and his main
character is Elvis Cole. A great series and his latest book The Last
Detective is the newest addition to the series -- the first in several
years. Crais also has been writing several stand alone novels that were
good, too.
I've also recently read Shutter Island by Dennis Lehane and Sunshine and
Shadows by Earlene Fowler. Both were great mystery books to read, too.
