I agree that a kindergartener probably does not need to know all the
specifics. Another thing they probably do want to know is: Will I get
sick, too? Maybe they would benefit from a general book about
hospitals. I read several to my 5-year-old before he had his
tonsillectomy, and though I realize that the degree of seriousness is miles
apart, it might be all they need to satisfy their curiosity and to explain
some of the procedures that their friend has to endure.

Wow. What could you say about cancer to a kindergartner that wouldn't be
scary?
My child will be in kindergarten next year and quite frankly all I would
want her to know is the child is sick, his parents and the doctors are
taking care of him, and let's say a prayer for him.
Sometimes too much information is a bad thing.
Reminds me of the "where do babies come from?" question.
Age appropriateness is the key to the right answer.
I commented to the list because I would like to see other people's
responses. Any one else have 2 cents to throw out there?

Subject: Target: books about cancer for kindergarteners
