OT: sony Playstation

Good morning!

I have been diligently refusing to buy into the whole video game thing for
years, but now that Sony has come out with this new "Eye Toy", my husband
and I have decided to take the plunge and buy the kids, (11 and 9) a PS2
for Christmas, along with the Eye Toy.  I've already preordered the Eye
Toy, but the Playstation has so many options...

What is essential to get the most out of it?  I see that it comes with only
one controller...obviously we'll need a second so both kids can play,
right?  I'm totally out of my element and would appreciate any input you have.
