We don't do exactly this type of activity, but we have done something
similar that has been very successful. Over the course of the year we read
a selected list of books to each grade level. For the end of the year we
have created an Alphabet Book Contest. We take something from books we have
read, and match it to a letter, and create a poster with a picture from the
book and the letter, for example, W is "Where the Wild Things Are." We hold
up the poster with the letter W, and a picture from the book which shows Max
in his wolf suit, and ask our students to identify the book title. C is for
Corderoy, M is for Mudge, from the Henry and Mudge books, and so on. Older
classes do it as a contest, younger classes do this as a class activity, but
everybody loves seeing how many of the books they can identify, and it is a
great review activity for the end of the year!
