Sorry, but I have hard time empathizing. I wouldn't have had either
magazine in the first place. There aren't too many seventeen year olds in
our middle schools, and Teen People wouldn't make it through the selection
process either. I know that our society expects us to treat middle
schoolers like mini adults, but I refuse to buy into it. Raise the bar, and
your students will rise to meet the standard. Pander to the lowest common
denominator, and our society (and schools) will sink even further into the
moral abyss. I guess I am ranting (yeah!), but I really feel that we ought
to work hard to set a high standard, and not just give 'em what they want
to get 'em in the library.
