AS one who goes often to Barnes & Noble - after purchasing books, etc., my
husband and I will often get a tea , sit down and play a game of Scrabble-
yes, Scrabble. If they are really busy and there doesn't seem to be any
empty tables, we will take our tea to go, but usually they have room for us.

I have been in some other B & N stores that were really crowded, and often
wondered how much business they really do since everyone there seemed to be
just studying, or reading., I am sure it was frustrating for you. I know you
were upset that there wasn't any place for you to look through your pile of
possible purchases, but perhaps you could suggest to the manager that they
have a separate area for students who want to study? That would be
proactive.

Subject: GEN: Barnes and Noble

I was really ticked off last night. My husband and I went to our =
neighborhood Barnes and Noble bookstore. I collected a small stack of =
books and magazines that I wanted to sort through and I couldn't find a =
place to sit.

Apparently, since our B & N is close to a university, it is the "new" =
place for university students to study. The students occupied every =
easy chair and every table. The only purchases they had made was from =
Starbucks (mmmmm....white chocolate mocha....sorry I digress...heheh). =20

A complaint made to the store manager was not satisfying. He basically =
said that the decision to ban/bar the students had to be made on the =
corporate level and that the store couldn't do anything about it.

Needless to say, I will pursue this to the corporate level. I think it =
is poor business practice to allow the students to take over the store =
and to discourage paying customers from enjoying the store.

Have any of you had a similar problem with your bookstores?
