I polled here last week about middle schools that have Stephen King and/or = A Child Called It. It was pretty evenly divided. I considered getting = parent permission but a whole new host of problems arise with that - = forgery, one student checking it out and loaning it to another student = without permission, stolen books, etc. I spoke with my principal this afternoon and now I come to you. What are = some middle school appropriate alternatives to Stephen King? Are there = any other authors out there who write well and can help scare the kids = which is what they want in the first place? After my students are done with RL Stine, I usually send them to John = Bellairs. Any other options? Thank you! Hilary L. Grant Media Specialist Highland Middle School 305 N.
