One of my colleagues has taken control of the print queue and they are all
delayed until she can do a quick check in the queue. Wouldn't solve all your
problems but would cut down some. I do not know how to do this as I don't
need to but someone probably will.
I keep a window open on my monitor for the printer to see what's coming. As
long as it is showing in the queue I can cancel it. I wonder why you cannot.
You need to talk to your tech people, unless of course you are it.

Subject: Tech: Disallowing printing multi copies

Is there any way one can disable the little window in microsoft Office so
that a patron has to go to File-Print--Okay for each and every copy he wants
instead of just being able to print off 100 at a time?

My public library offers free printing, and we get people who print off
dozens of copies of documents--for example, a resume, and then find an error
and fix it and then print off dozens more, wasting all the copies they had
just done.

Then, of course, there is the 2 to 3 times a week visits from the Prank
Lord, who prints several hundred copies of "Ha-HA you've just bin pranked by
the Prank Lord."

We really cannot have a librarian sit at the reference desk doing nothing
but monitoring the print queue to see which of our 24 PC's the jobs are
coming from. Also, once the job has spooled, it cannot be cancelled. We
can press "Cancel Job" on the lasar printer, but then that just causes the
printer to loop through and begin printing the entire job all over again.
Maybe the printer has obsessive-compulsive disorder or something.
